Meet the O'Tooles!

Volé and Alpha Sigma Phi’s newest THON family is the Julia O’Toole family! We have been paired with the O’Tooles since January of 2020 and have loved getting to know them over the past year! Julia is an 12-year-old only child from Carlisle, PA. She was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma in 2019 and finished up her chemotherapy in April of 2020. As of summer 2020, Julia is officially cancer free!!

Julia loves to dance and was recently able to get back into dancing after her treatments ended. Julia is a fun-loving girl who also enjoys Disney movies, baking, and the occasional mini-science experiment. Julia is also really into video games like Roblox and Minecraft. She has two maltese puppies that she adores and even dressed them up for the THON 2021 fashion show!

Volé and Alpha Sigma Phi got to meet Julia in person for THON 2020, her very first THON! We were so excited to watch her perform in the talent show, and she even brought a few of our members onstage with her. Since then, we have kept in touch with the O’Tooles virtually. We have enjoyed some fun Zoom events such as celebrating her final round of chemo, a virtual “speed dating” where she could talk to members individually and get to know them, and playing so many rounds of Among Us during THON 2021! She even showed us a few of her science experiments (and used all of her parents’ vinegar and baking soda in the process)! Julia never fails to make us smile and we always love seeing her face.
